Preaching to the Choir

I took some time to digest the Barack Obama/Derrick Bell videos that were released on Wednesday night.  Earlier in the day I had watched the edited Buzzfeed video and was intrigued by the jump cut at the end.  Once it was announced they would run the unedited video on Hannity that night, I made sure to clear the calendar.

Honestly I was a little deflated in my initial reaction.  How could I not be? It was hyped all day that the early scoop by Buzzfeed was heavily edited.  It was promised that the full entire unedited dance remix version would be broadcast on Hannity.  So when I saw it and it was only about 20 seconds of extra footage that included a hug, I was let down.  However, I did find that the additional footage of Charles Olgetree joking about keeping the footage a secret in 2008 was compelling.  In the end, I left the TV feeling slightly unfulfilled.

All my doubts disappeared when I saw the Soledad O'Brien interview with Joel Pollak on CNN.  Soledad was condescending from the beginning, but Joel kept his cool and caught her in more than a few misrepresentations, and wouldn't let her push her view of it being a non story.  Then of course there was asshat Jay Thomas who pulled the race card right away without knowing a thing about Joel.  I still wonder if Joel should have sucker punched the moron with the facts about his wife.

It's always concerning when you realize you have been played by outside forces.  I realized that I had been manipulated to expect a "bombshell".  So when the video didn't reveal Barack Obama as the second shooter on the grassy knoll, I was let down.  They had played their game on me, and I had fallen for it.

It's obvious now that vetting this President probably won't bring me any new shockers.  I am, as are most on the conservative side, aware of who he hung around with and what his ideology is based in.  So when I see a new story about a new radical he embraced it doesn't have a huge impact on me.  But what the Breitbart sites are doing with this vetting isn't just for me.  It's for some of those independents out there that didn't get their current President vetted in 2008.  It's for those people that have heard the names Wright and Ayers but chose to buy Obama's excuse of not really knowing those colorful characters.  The Big sites are doing what the media and our candidate refused to do in 2008.  They are showing us just who is occupying our White House.  The legacy that was left behind by Andrew Breitbart is in good hands, and I'm looking forward to the next round.

Hydra!

A very interesting thing is occurring.  Last week the conservative movement was stunned to learn of the death of their new media general Andrew Breitbart.  I'm sure many of you felt like I did...what do we do now?  How can we not have his voice in this very critical election?  Then the media latched onto Rush Limbaugh's slut comment concerning Andrea Fluke, and we got hit with a double whammy.  It was like a test to see how the community would weather a large media controversy....even if it was made up out of nothing.

Then the change started happening.  We started coming out of the woodwork and taking up the call that was given at CPAC....Conservatives aren't going to take it anymore.  Everything has changed.  Those words were so prophetic.  New phrases started appearing.  #iamandrewbreitbart #war became the new battle cries and the army that Breitbart left behind started to mobilize.  Conservatives weren't going to apologize, and they were going to get in the face of progressives showing them their own hypocrisy.

Just looking at Twitter you could find all sorts of new faces asking what they could do.  Names like Daniel Knauf joined the fight with a vengeance.  They were loud and unapologetic voices that Andrew would have been proud of.  Not only did new blood join the war, but those in leadership positions that Andrew left behind offered support, encouragement and guidance to the new ranks.  As one of those that joined late I'm amazed when I get replies or retweets from heavy hitters like Kurt Schlichter, or Patrick Dollard

The movement that Breitbart started is getting even stronger in the wake of his death.  Just like the legendary Hydra, when a head is cut off another one takes it's place.  Only it's more than just one head....it's hundreds.  And they are pissed off and they aren't going to take it anymore.

It's a trap!

Admiral Ackbar was referring to the plot devised by the Emperor to destroy the rebellion once and for all in Return of the Jedi, but I'm going to use the line in reference to this nonsensical argument we have all been involved in for the last week.  That's right...Google's favorite Fluke these days.  No, not the fish.  I'm talking about Sandra Fluke and her vagina.

It's a trap that was set by Nancy Pelosi, and Ms. Fluke.  They laid it out there with Fluke's fraudulent testimony at Pelosi's press conference.  All they needed was someone to take the bait, and Limbaugh went for it.  If he had just stuck with disassembling her testimony, show the lies, and focus on getting across the conservative side of the story, we would not be having this national screech fest.  But he is an entertainer and commentator, and he went for the jab.  I can't really blame him, but unfortunately that is now the story.

Now we have to work at turning the story around, and getting it back to being about government intrusion and mandates that they have no business imposing.  In all actuality, that shouldn't even be the conversation since there are far more important issues pressing the nation other than locating condoms around the Georgetown Campus.  It's a hard story to turn around when every conversation has to start with excusing Rush's now famous use of the word "slut", or doing a comparison with progressive commentators using far worse slurs against far more honest women.  The left doesn't care what their side said, and they never will.  In their hypocritical minds what Rush said is far worse, simply because he isn't on their side.  That's all that matters to them.

So we have a decision to make.  Do we keep up with the back and forth?  Or do we wait it out until the story dies on it's own.  It will happen over time...the American people do tend to have a short attention span when it comes to news stories.  I say wait it out.  Side step the issue of Rush's comments, and Sandra Fluke's vagina, and instead focus on the base issue.  Don't focus on the flashy.  Go for the "boring" stuff like freedom of religion and speech.  Or use the logical case of if contraception is paid for, than why shouldn't insulin, asthma inhalers, or any other medical product be paid for.

Conservatism has always been based in logic to me, while Liberalism relies on emotions.  I'm not saying we can't be emotional and passionate about our beliefs.  We are in a battle of ideas, and our ideas are based in logic, reason, and the Constitution.  When you can get to that root, you can actually change minds.

Just a Fluke...

I really hate writing about things that I know I shouldn't be writing about.  Case in point, is this nonsense about contraception and specifically the testimony and surrounding controversy of Sandra Fluke.  See there....I even called it a testimony when it was nothing more than a press conference put on by Nancy Pelosi.  Anyway, it's the hot hypocrisy topic of the day, and the left is hoisting their hypocrite flag as high as it will go!

Over here we have Kirsten Powers at The Daily Beast illustrating just a few of the misogynists on the left showcasing their best cro magnon impersonations.  They all of course have received a pass on their questionable behavior.  I'm also lead to believe that President Obama has phoned none of the ladies that were bullied and belittled by these asshats.  Although one did receive a job as Secretary of State.  Do you think the Secretary part was on purpose?  Should Hillary have been made "Professional Assistant of State"?

Also today we got news that the 30 year old Ms. Fluke has not accepted Rush Limbaugh's apology for calling her a slut.  The obvious snub from her about the apology just goes to show that Rush was way off base in calling her a slut.  He could have found better phrasing to describe Ms. Fluke.  I'm thinking....useful idiot?  Liar?  Fame whore?  Hmmm...that last one could get misconstrued.....

Who's got the asprin?

The White House agenda is painfully transparent.  President Obama is making a play for the female vote using the made up contraception controversy.   He started the controversy and continues to insert himself into it so that it remains a hot button issue.  The progressives fall in line and screech about the Republican's war on women.   The media covers all possible angles of the story to make sure it keeps it's legs.  Legs that should have closed long ago....

The Beginning that sarted with The End

Image from I Own The World

What a crazy week.  Where to even start.  I was literally woken up on Thursday morning with the news of Andrew Breitbart’s death.  Immediate denial.  Some sort of bad joke, or internet hoax.  I went into immediate data mining mode, jumping from site to site to get confirmation.  It was true.  Confirmed all over the internet.

I just started this blog a little over a week ago.  On Monday I posted a humor piece about my man crush on Andrew.  There’s no man crush anymore....just sadness.  Wednesday Davey Jones died, and I had a few fleeting nostalgic moments....watching The Monkees in reruns at my Grandparents, or leafing through old Monkees albums at the thrift store as a child.  I had a few laughs with my memories.  But Andrew Breitbart.  I was distracted all day.  I am genuinely sad.

It’s so odd to think of this years important election without the voice of that larger than life man.  The right won’t have it’s merry prankster standing in the wings just waiting to throw a monkey wrench into the establishment medias narrative.  The left won’t have their favorite kicking boy who pushed himself to the front of their line.  This year is going to lack a little of the danger, courtesy Mr. Breitbart, that made it fun.

I wanted to honor a man that had such an impact on me, and breathed such life into the conservative movement.  So I thought what better way than to take up the cause publicly.  I “came out” on my Facebook page and let my friends know about my secret conservative side.  It felt good.  It felt like the beginning of something new.  It felt like I’m doing my own little part to keep the message and his work going.

It's time to follow his lead....

Loss

A very sad morning for a lot of us.  We have lost our voice, our hero, our warrior....the one who would stand up and say what we all wanted to say.  We are all going to miss him.

Most important though is that some have lost a friend, a father, and a husband.  My heart aches for their loss.

I saw a tweet this morning that we must all pick ourselves up, and move forward without our general.  We won't let you down Andrew.
